Ruane: (Star Wars Era AU)

ruaneSo, rough idea of this guy in his kinda-movie-era AU. Though Phelan Ruane looks to be a human in his 40s, he's looked that age since before the Clone Wars. He was born on Alderaan and joined the Republic military as a young man. He distinguished himself as a pilot in the battles against the Trade Federation before he joined the Royal Guard. Though he remains fiercely loyal to Palpatine, he can often be found away from the Emperor's side, using various aliases to conduct the Emperor's business throughout the galaxy.
One such alias is Captain Folan Tirise. Captain Tirise is a former Republic pilot who retired after the Clone Wars and now works as a freighter captain (read: smuggler). Captain Tirise is loud, arrogant, thinks he's smoother than he is, and generally drives people to distraction. He's not afraid to leverage his status as a war hero for soft treatment from anyone in uniform if he thinks it'll help. Some quieter, more personal moments hint to others that Tirise's attitude is hiding some kind of trauma.
As for physical abilities, much like his SWTOR version, he's a force to be reckoned with. Though the Jedi never thought him a good candidate for training, since his training in Palpatine's Royal Guard, Ruane is fast and strong, able generally to stand toe to toe with Jedi in single combat. Someone has meddled with his mind, using medical treatments, training, and the dark side of the Force to deepen his connection to the Force. He uses the dark side of the Force almost instinctively, though conditioning and training mean he never consciously understands what he's doing and he'll swear he's not using the Force at all. He's deadly with an electrostaff, and his usual primary weapon is an electrostaff of Selkath design, with wickedly curved blades on each end.
When he's not pretending to be a smuggler, Ruane is quiet and no-nonsense. He's practical and hard to upset. He resists the displays of violence that other high ranking Imperials favor, instead preferring to cultivate beneficial relationships with civilians and others he has to interact with to do his job. Though he can be a ruthless monster when the situation warrants, and will obey the Emperor without question or hesitation, left on his own, he prefers his reputation be one that inspires confidence and loyalty from those under him, not fear.
